Knowing your rights under the CCPA and CPRA

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, lets California residents tell a business to stop selling their personal information or sharing it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Several other states give their residents a similar right. PageLinen applies it to every customer in the United States, wherever they live.

Opting out by email

  1. Write to contact@pagelinen.com.
  2. Title the email “Do Not Sell or Share”.
  3. Include the email address you shop with, so the request covers the right records.

That’s the whole process. No account is needed, and the email can be very short.

Confirming and timing an opt-out

An opt-out doesn’t require a photo ID or any other document. You’ll hear back within 1 business day that the email arrived. Processing takes up to 15 business days, and a second email says when it’s done.

Honoring Global Privacy Control

Global Privacy Control works too. When a browser or extension sends that signal, PageLinen records the visitor as opted out of sale and sharing, and no email is required. Today there’s no sale or sharing for it to block. The record still counts if that ever changes.

Defining sale and sharing at PageLinen

Under these laws, a sale is any transfer of personal information to another company in exchange for payment or something else of value, and sharing means passing it along so ads can follow someone across other sites. PageLinen does neither. The site has no advertising pixels or tags. Adding an advertising tag would mean rewriting this page and the Privacy Policy before the tag goes live.

Noting a few details

PageLinen never sells or shares data about people under 16. An agent authorized in writing can submit an opt-out for you. Opting out doesn’t cancel an order, slow a refund or remove you from order emails.

Treating everyone the same afterward

Prices, shipping and service stay exactly the same for people who opt out or use any other privacy right.
